Anti-porners Demand Action Against Adult Industry Leaders

Anti-porners Demand Action Against Adult Industry Leaders

LOS ANGELES — The foes of free expression are at it again, but this time, failing in their efforts at online censorship and in trying to falsely paint the legitimate adult entertainment industry with the brush of “trafficking,” are now calling for the bullying, persecution and prosecution of industry leadership.

For example, in an ill-informed rant titled “Why won’t the right go after the porn industry’s leadership?” a blogger by the name of “Cam Brown” seems to take a page from the now-defunct PornWikiLeaks’ playbook, demanding the outing of adult entertainment industry leaders’ personal identities and taking direct action against them.

It is a dangerous call to arms that will only spark the mentally unstable to acts of intimidation and violence — as Hustler chief Larry Flynt can attest, after surviving an anti-porn assassin’s bullet.

Brown’s missive shifts the focus from blaming porn consumers to the political right, asking why action isn’t being taken against the leadership of the porn industry.

“Let’s consider who is behind this industry and reasons for producing and distributing it. Is it just because of their profligate sexual dispositions and desire to propagate it among similarly minded people, or purely to make money? Or is there more to it, at least with many of them? Do they have a deeper interest in demoralizing the general population and weakening their resolve — especially the resolve of men?” Brown posed. “Considering that they tend to offer their product free of charge to their audience, one must consider that there is more to this than simply a wish to enrich themselves. If so, are they not the enemy of society and deserving of exposure, condemnation and, if possible, full repudiation?”

The rant is symptomatic of current culture, where many voices call for a notion of “accountability” despite there being no violations of law. This is a regular occurrence in the political scene, and it is now bleeding over to the anti-porners, but it is simply a matter of one person or group feeling that another deserves punishment for having a different opinion or outlook. It is judgmental self-righteousness in the extreme — and it is dangerous.

“[H]ow long will we allow these perpetrators to control us this way? They do not care for you. They have no love for you. They only want to enslave and destroy you. Shouldn’t they be the ones cowering in fear for what they are doing?” Brown frothed. “As such, I say we need to research all who are involved behind the scenes — the producers, disseminators, the propagators of what is so obviously meant to harm our society. There should be a veritable call to arms to bring these people down as the pariahs they are.”

Clear thinkers have a message for Brown and friends: if you don’t like it, don’t watch it. Just because it’s free that doesn’t mean you can’t change the channel or click away. Your personal demons are your own — and not the fault of folks out “to enslave and destroy you.”

For the rest of us, take this as a warning of the disinformation and hate facing you, as a person, just for being you, and for choosing a career in adult.
